It is our pleasure to announce that Students for a Safer Southside
(SFSS) and the Alcohol Policy Network (Community Recovery Services)
were awarded a grant
from the US Department of Education that will keep SFSS funded another
two years. We were one of seventeen awardees nationwide, and the only
small community-based organization to be awarded a grant. For more

SFSS was awarded a Bears Breaking Boundaries grant from UC Berkeley in
the amount of $3,000, thanks to SFSS member Amber Woodburn who wrote
the proposal for the grant competition. Kudos to Amber! For more

The Berkeley City Council recently passed a Social Host Ordinance in
the City of Berkeley. For more information, please click here.
On June 10th, 2007 the Berkeley City Council supported a draft
ordinance to establish operating standards on alcohol outlets. For
